Why do I build in public (BIP)?

First, it’s a commitment to myself!

I want to make the founder journey real—not just something I think about in my head. By writing about it, talking about it, and putting it out there every day, I remind myself that this is the path I’ve chosen.

Making it public also creates accountability. Once I say, “I’m building this,” it becomes a little harder to give up.

Second, I want to share the journey with people on a similar path.

Going from engineer to founder is a long journey. There’s so much to learn, and there will be plenty of difficult moments along the way.

I hope we can support and encourage each other through those moments, celebrate the wins together, and share our failures so we can learn from each other.

And hopefully, I’ll make some friends along the way.

Build in public can attract leads.

Some people also build an audience with the intention of monetizing it later.

I don’t.

I have no intention of making money from my followers. I don’t see them as users or potential customers.

To me, they’re more like friends who happen to be following the same journey.
