Why ordinary server search changes the privacy boundary
Conventional search creates an index from readable content. That index makes retrieval fast, but the system building it needs access to the words. Encrypting only the database disk does not change this if the application server can still decrypt entries while running.
For a private journal, ask whether search happens over readable writing on the server, over writing opened on your device, or only over details such as dates and tags. Each approach offers different convenience and exposure.
