Protecting a digital journal is not a single setting. It is a chain that includes your account, device, browser, encryption keys, sharing choices, and recovery plan. A strong link in one place cannot compensate for a forgotten risk somewhere else.
1. Use a unique account password
Do not reuse the password from email, shopping, or social accounts. A password manager can generate and store a long unique password, reducing the chance that a breach elsewhere opens your journal account.
Remember that an account password and content encryption are different protections. The password controls sign-in and may help unlock encrypted key material; it does not by itself prove that stored entries are unreadable to the service.

2. Understand exactly what encryption covers

3. Save the Recovery Key safely

Do not paste the Recovery Key into a journal entry or send it through casual messaging. Anyone who obtains the key may be able to unlock the content it protects.
4. Protect the unlocked device
Client-side encryption protects stored content from server access; it does not protect a page already decrypted on a compromised device. Use a device passcode, install security updates, review browser extensions, and sign out on shared computers.
